Description[]

Consciousness (意识, Yìshí, lit. Consciousness/Awareness/Mind, sometimes seen coupled with Willpower as 意志意识, Yìzhì yìshí, lit. Will Consciousness) is a mental component of a cultivator's strength. Consciousness is important to both Spirit Masters and Warriors. For Warriors, consciousness (along with willpower) helps them evolve and breakthrough[1], contributes to both their offense and defense, and is even a component of Domain and associated techniques[2]. For Spirit Masters, consciousness is commanded by willpower[3], and it commands the cultivator's Spirit Energy[4].

Like Willpower, Consciousness can be expressed even in the Virtual Universe, as it is a mental and soul component. Consciousness is tied to a cultivator's Spirit Energy and thus grows with them. As one gets stronger, their consciousness strength increases, increasing their ability to utilize their Spirit Energy as well as their mental processing speed. To some extent, a stronger Consciousness also helps one's Willpower.[5] Additionally, as one increases their comprehension of the Original Laws, their consciousness begins to be affected by the universe energies, giving them greater resistance to illusions.

Multiple Bodies[]

If a cultivator has multiple bodies, they will share a consciousness and thus each body can increase its law comprehension, techniques, etc. from one body's training. This also meant that if one body had a stronger consciousness than another, the weaker body could use the consciousness strength of the stronger body. For example: Luo Feng's Golden Horned Beast Body had a stronger consciousness than his Earthling Body, but his Earthling body was able to use the Golden Horned Beast's consciousness strength (as well as innate talent techniques like Strengthen!) for battles both within the Virtual Universe and the real world. Cultivators with multiple bodies can also channel the shared consciousness into one of the bodies, increasing its consciousness strength.[6]

Immortal Level[]

When one breaks through to Immortal, their Consciousness fuses to help create their Immortal Energy. The nature of Immortal Energy meant that as long as their Immortal Energy was not burned or destroyed, it would return to their body when dispersed or emitted, since the energy, fused with their consciousness, belongs only to them.[7] As Consciousness is an element of Immortal Energy, the increase of Divine Power as an Immortal got stronger resulted in their Consciousness strengthening.[8] This meant that Special Lifeforms and those lifeforms with large Divine Bodies, such as Plant Lifeforms and Mountain Lifeforms, would have greater Consciousness strength than other lifeforms of their cultivation tier, due to the sheer volume of Divine Power. For example, Luo Feng, due to his Remote Ocean body's size and his Perfect Life Gene Level, had Divine Power on the Universe Overlord level immediately after breaking through to Immortal![8]
