Appearance[]
In the novel, Hong is a Chinese man with black hair and black eyes. He is about 1.9 meters tall and wears black trousers and black jackets. He has lean, sharp hair and his entire figure makes one think of a sky-piercing spear! As for his age, not even a single wrinkle could be seen on his face: he seemed to be around 20 years old due to his high cultivation.
In the donghua, while Hong still appears younger than his actual age, it is clear that he is mature. For differentiation amongst the three sworn brothers, he instead has shoulder-length red hair that he keeps pulled back and dresses in black and red color scheme. His Black God Suit also has the same color scheme.
Age[]
Estimation. Hong already had a deceased wife and two children before the Great Nirvana (Before Earth Year 2013~2021). He is at least in his 50s at the beginning of Swallowed Star (Earth Year 2056), and likely older than 60. Babata states that Hong and Lei Shen are each older than Luo Feng's grandfather![18]
Personality[]
Hong is a firm yet relaxed individual. With his incredible mental strength, he sees through lies and refuses to buckle to pressure; he is comparable to the saints in Earth's history. His mental and physical strength make him someone that people naturally follow. He has great resolve and stepped into the role of Earth's lead warrior, willing to sacrifice himself for the planet. Despite being the strongest person on Earth, he never used that power to bully others, allowing Fa Er to attempt to obtain the Cloud Vine[19][20] and not stopping any of the other Planetary Level fighters from obtaining Muya Crystals[21][22]. This did not mean, however, that he would not kill a fellow Earthling if he deemed it necessary, such as when he killed Yahan.[23][24] Even after Luo Feng surpassed Hong, he had great respect for Hong's ability to handle problems and people, understanding that even if he or Lei Shen made a mess of things, Hong would not do so.[15]
It is unknown how he manages his unnamed family members.[15]
Biography[]
Hong is a powerful Warrior from Earth, a hero from the Great Nirvana who led the Earthlings to refuge in his early life. With his impeccable control of his strength and his incredibly strong mental state as Earth's top assassin, he became the number 1 of the three life-and-death brothers, he, Lei Shen, and Luo Feng. The head of the Extreme Martial Club, he is one of the few Earthlings who understands the weakness of Earthlings in the universe.
Early Life[]
Hong was born in late 20th century China before the period of the Great Nirvana. His legal name is unknown.[25] He was trained in a camp from a young age to be an assassin, but maintained his moral bottomline.[26] While training in the assassin camp, his physical abilities were worse than other ethnicity groups', but rather than giving up, he kept pushing forward, eventually becoming the world's most terrifying assassin.[27] With his mastery of Chinese martial arts coupled with his great mental strength, he achieved excellent control of his strength, forging his own path to the strongest. He got married and had a son and a daughter, but his wife died before the Great Nirvana, so Hong raised his children alone.[15]
The Great Nirvana[]
The Great Nirvana was a period of great upheavals and turmoil on Earth. Many Earthlings died and many cities were destroyed. Hong fought to save humanity, killing monsters and even creating a base to which Earthlings could escape the carnage. This base eventually became Hong Ning Base City.[28]
During this period, Hong met the first of his life-and-death brothers, Lei Shen. Together they faced many different kinds of monsters, constantly testing their limits and evolving at a high speed, breaking through to the Planetary Level![29] The two forged a lifelong friendship through their collective struggles and shared goals. Lei Shen exclaimed that even in the most dire of situations, Hong always made the impossible possible![30] Unbeknownst to Hong, during the Great Nirvana he had already become the strongest Earthling.[27]
After the Great Nirvana: The Extreme Martial Club[]
As the strongest Earthling, Hong was indisputably the most powerful person on Earth. On his own, he was more important than an entire country; his authority had surpassed the restrictions of the normal world.[19] He could kill a fellow Planetary Level fighter without consequence.[31] He even directly controlled his own Base City, Hong Ning Base City! Despite surpassing everyone on Earth, he never forgot his home country of China, building Hong Ning and the buildings within based on Chinese style.[32]
Understanding that the Earthlings needed leadership, Hong created the Extreme Martial Club, which became the largest dojo on Earth, with locations all around the world, but headquartered in Hong Ning.[33] He also worked with Lei Shen to create the Palace of Gods of War, a virtual gathering place for the strongest Earthlings.[34] As the strongest on Earth, he even negotiated with the SS-Class Beast Kings, crafting an agreement where the Earthlings would not use Laser Cannons on Beast Kings in exchange for the Beast Kings not joining beast hordes in their attacks on base cities![35] Every country cooperated with him and helped him expand the Extreme Martial Club[19], and he was respected and feared by every powerful warrior on the planet. Only Lei Shen was able to speak with him on equal terms.[36]
While he and Lei Shen were life-and-death brothers, the Extreme Martial Club and Lei Shen's Thunder Dojo competed on every other level, fighting for talents, accomplishments, and prestige.[25] In establishing the Extreme Martial Club, he also built the competition and contribution structures, with the ultimate goal of raising the overall strength of Earthling warriors.[37]
Through his efforts, he acquired countless treasures (including the AI that managed the Palace of Gods of War), some of which only he possessed (such as Dragon Blood[38]). As a result, not only was he the strongest person on Earth, possessing the most authority, but he was also the richest person on Earth! In his travels to the ancient ruins, he also obtained information about the greater universe, which solidified in his mind the need for Earthlings to become stronger.
In addition to being a talented warrior, Hong was a talented teacher, raising 3 Planetary Level warriors on his own, even creating life-saving techniques for them. These three (Bing Shan, Yao Rao, Ye Shou) became his personal guards, and they were stronger than the average level of the 5 Inspectors of the Extreme Martial Club![39] Despite being a Warrior, he was still able to use an AI to create the Celestial Deity Catalog to guide Spirit Masters.[40] He always kept an eye out for elite talent, creating the Elite Training Camp and providing an opportunity for talents there to become his personal disciples.[41] He even taught there sometimes[42], appearing there every few years or so.[43]
Meeting Luo Feng[]
When Luo Feng reached rank 68 in the Elite Training Camp in his first month there, it caught the attention of the upper echelon of the Extreme Martial Club.[38] On April 29, 2057, while the 5 Inspectors were discussing the offer they would make to him, Hong sent his decision, to which none objected. Hong personally wrote the contract send to Luo Feng, which Luo Feng accepted.[43] Shortly after this, it was announced that Hong would personally come to the Elite Training Camp before their Life and Death Adventure on August 1st, which greatly excited the students.
On August 1, 2057, Hong visited the Elite Training Camp, where he met Luo Feng for the first time.[16] Surprised by Luo Feng's Spirit Energy, he commented on it, revealing Luo Feng's identity as a Spirit Master and setting Luo Feng's conflict with Li Yao into motion. Hong then ordered Wang Yu to bring Luo Feng to him, where he shared that if Luo Feng was hiding his strength due to having Planetary Level enemies, he could guarantee that Luo Feng was now safe from them. After discussing Li Yao, Venina Paulinus, and the 100 billion dollar bounty on Luo Feng, Hong guaranteed that Luo Feng's family would be safe, but that he would not interfere with the battle between Luo Feng and Li Yao. Luo Feng realized that Hong was treating the upcoming battle as a test of Luo Feng's true strength and potential. As promised, Hong gave orders preventing even those from the HR Alliance from harming Luo Feng's family.[44] When he became aware of Li Yao bringing a Laser Cannon to Australia, he sent Puka and Tie Zong to retrieve the laser cannon to prevent its use against Luo Feng.[45]
The Misty Island[]
When Luo Feng learned of the spirits of nature on the Misty Island, he informed the Extreme Martial Club, at which point Hong sent Liu He and Bing Shan to retrieve them.[46] After Bing Shan barely survived his encounter with the Cloud Vine, Hong traveled to the island to confirm its identity and retrieve it if it was valuable.[19] When Fa Er and the other Planetary Level members of the HR Alliance failed to obtain the Cloud Vine, he took action, confirming that it was indeed a Cloud Vine and then taking it for himself. Pleased with the treasure he obtained, he decided to make the Soaring Shuttle available to Luo Feng when dispensing the rewards from the trip. In his talk with Luo Feng, he explained the values of the various spirits of nature, the rules on receiving a Black God Suit, and the value of the Soaring Shuttle.[47] After Luo Feng requested to become the examiner of Jiangnan City, Hong ordered him to obtain the title of Advanced God of War, then return to Jiangnan City to take up his new position.[48]
No. 9 Ruin of Ancient Civilization[]
When Luo Feng was prepared to travel to the No. 9 Ruin of Ancient Civilization to obtain a Black God Suit to give to the Extreme Martial Club, Hong spoke to the group of 7 who had gathered to travel, then called in Yao Rao to escort them.[39] Afterward, he spoke to Luo Feng individually and informed him that no Spirit Master of his level had died after entering the ruin, unlike the Warriors. When Luo Feng had not emerged from the ruin after 3 months, Hong told Yao Rao to inform his family that he may have died, but it was not confirmed.[40] As he had hoped Luo Feng would eventually become his right hand man, he truly did not believe that he could die there. When one year had passed, he gave the order to confirm his death, then to transfer his property to his family, with the exception of Number 1, which would remain with the Extreme Martial Club.[49] When Luo Feng finally emerged after 15 months, Hong was informed by Liu He and Yao Rao, after which he left to meet Luo Feng and discuss what happened.[50] He was slightly embarrassed to have to return the Black God Suit to Number 1 before anyone was aware that he had done so.[51]
Death of Li Yao[]
After Luo Feng gathered evidence of Li Yao and Venina's actions against his family, Hong gave the orders for the Extreme Martial Club's 3 best lawyers to accept the case and for Planetary Level fighters to arrest the couple.[52] He was present for the trial[53] and when Li Yao escaped Liu He, he ordered Vladimir and Yao Rao to assist Luo Feng in killing Li Yao.[54] Knowing that Li Yao's special ability was 'light,' he was disappointed that Luo Feng attempted to kill him on his own, but was pleasantly surprised when he learned from Liu He that he succeeded, ordering him send a copy of the battle to him and to bring Luo Feng back to headquarters.[23] In the aftermath of Luo Feng's accomplishment, Hong and Lei Shen reminded the gathered Representatives of the Yahan case and that they had no problems killing any members of the Palace of Gods of War who disrupted the unity of the Earthlings. After explaining that he gave the Soaring Shuttle to Luo Feng in exchange for the spirits of nature he acquired at the Misty Island, he, Lei Shen, and Luo Feng left to speak separately.[55]
In their separate conversation, Lei Shen asked Luo Feng how he killed Li Yao with the Soaring Shuttle. As he and Hong had discovered it some time in the past, they spent a lot of time trying to understand it, but never figured out how to use it. The pair then learned of Luo Feng's acquisition of the Soaring Shuttle manual from the No. 9 Ruin of Ancient Civilization. Hong explained to Luo Feng that they knew it was picking out Spirit Master students from the death rates of those who entered, but they also realized that as an entry-level test, it could only teach but so much. Hong revealed that at that moment there was only one Planetary Level Spirit Master on Earth: East, a man that Hong considered less talented than Luo Feng, and also too ambitious. He continued to reveal to Luo Feng the existence of the Beast Emperors, powerful monsters superior to everyone on earth except Hong and Lei Shen. After agreeing on the date to announce Luo Feng as an Inspector of the Extreme Martial Club, Hong and Lei Shen discussed the necessity of them reaching the Stellar Level to protect Earth.
Return to the Misty Island[]
While discussing their goals of reaching the Stellar Level, Hong and Lei Shen were notified by Yao Rao of a change at the Misty Island: the birth of a third Beast Emperor![56] While traveling, the two discussed the treasures on the Misty Island, and stated that they would return to the Misty Island to obtain treasures after the Extreme Martial Club ceremony for Luo Feng's promotion to Inspector.[56][57] On January 5, 2059, Hong participated in Luo Feng's promotion ceremony, where Luo Feng revealed his breakthrough to Planetary Level and Hong told him to accompany him on his return to the Misty Island.[58][57] After the ceremony, the two headed to the Extreme Martial Club HQ, and Hong revealed that the headquarters is a true interstellar Spaceship, albeit too damaged to fly through space. He shared additional details about the spaceship and showed Luo Feng a video of two Universe Level fighters battling on a White Dwarf Star with a gravitational pull 300 million times that of Earth's![59][60] After sharing what he knew about the status of Planetary Level, Stellar Level, and Universe Level fighters in the universe, he urged Luo Feng to continue improving to help he and Lei Shen defend the Earth.
Hong, Lei Shen, and Luo Feng then traveled to the Misty Island, and Hong advised Luo Feng to stay in Number 1 to avoid becoming collateral damage. The forces of Earth gathered on the island, bringing more than 20 Laser Cannons and around 30 Planetary Level fighters. Hong had battled the Tentacle Beast three days prior and while he damaged it, he was unable to kill it, and he was also injured. Jia Yi commented that it was strange that Hong was attempting again, given his recent failure, but Luo Feng believed there was a reason for Hong's confidence.[61] In a discussion with Lei Shen, Hong revealed that with the Cloud Vine, he was very confident in his chances to defeat the Tentacle Beast. Lei Shen noted that this would assist the five countries, the HR Alliance, and of course himself, to which Hong noted that acquiring the treasure on the Misty Island was up to fate and destiny.
Hong began battling the Tentacle Beast, and with his Domain technique and the Cloud Vine, was able to kill the Tentacle Beast, striking awe in everyone present and those watching around the world. After killing the beast, he ordered Liu He (Zhu Xi in the donghua) and Ye Shou to bring 2 small teams with them to the Misty Island to meet him. Since the other powers present had begun to excavate the lake on the island, Hong ordered Luo Feng, Yao Rao, and Bing Shan to begin excavating the lake for treasures, explaining the distribution structure for the endeavor. When Luo Feng and Mo Henderson discovered the first Muya Crystal, Hong arrived and killed the newly born Earth Dragon King (who had eaten the crystal), examining it for abnormalities.[36][22] After the identity of the crystal was confirmed, he and his subordinates began searching for more crystals. Hong helped protect Luo Feng by allowing him to tell the other Representatives that he had given all the Muya Crystals he discovered to Hong.[62] At the conclusion of the excavation of the Misty Island, Hong had 10 Muya Crystals, the value of which he divided between his personal guards, Liu He, and Luo Feng.[63] He then gave the order that their search was officially complete but anyone who wanted to stay and continue to search could do so. After Luo Feng met Babata, he returned to Hong and exchanged 5.5 Muya Crystals for the Ancient Civilization Gravity Room, two portions of Dragon Blood, and 2 1.000 Year Old Black Root.[64]
Golden Horned Beast Crisis[]
On January 13, 2060, the Golden Horned Beast Earth Incident began with the beast attacking an American military base in New York.[65] The resulting carnage resulted in the leaders of Earth meeting in the Palace of Gods of War, including Hong, Lei Shen, Luo Feng, and Mo Henderson.[66] Due to the beast's size, Hong and the others initially believed it was a Beast King, weak enough to be killed by a Laser Cannon, however the footage revealed the truth: this was a beast that was unharmed by multiple laser cannons! When Clarence from the HR Alliance (in the donghua, Li Dawei reveals this information[67]) revealed that he knew some details around the beast, Hong quieted everyone else to allow him to explain what he knew. Knowing that there was no hope if the beast was Universe Level, he asked for an estimate of the beast's strength, which Clarence said was either Planetary Level 8-9 or a low Stellar Level. With this, he and Lei Shen knew the Earthlings may have a chance at survival.[68]
After everyone present agreed to attack the beast with a 150 megaton nuclear weapon, Hong, volunteered his Smart Fighter Plane to deliver the bomb.[69] As the Earth's strongest ship, it was actually capable of surviving casual attacks from the beast. When Luo Feng shared the information he got from Babata regarding the beast, Hong agreed to provide a list of all of the Earth Ruins so Luo Feng could attempt to find a weapon that could kill the beast. He also asked Luo Feng to send Number 1 to use in the nuclear attack.[70] After the attack was unsuccessful, Hong and Lei Shen went to the training room in the Extreme Martial Club headquarters so Lei Shen could attempt to learn Domain.[71]
While in the training room, Hong kept up with the outside, noting his contentment with Luo Feng's strength when he killed the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor.[71] With Hong's assistance, Lei Shen learned Domain, and the two agreed to once again fight together, this time against the Golden Horned Beast! After meeting with Luo Feng, Hong called together the higher ups of Earth and delivered a speech, declaring that they must kill the beast, that he refused to let his children live without hope![72] He then announced his intention to join forces with Lei Shen and fight the beast to the death. After this declaration, Luo Feng guaranteed that he had a weapon that could kill the beast, the Black Dragon Mountain X81 Laser Cannon.[73] With this news, Hong told Luo Feng that he could call him big brother rather than Head. Hong watched with the others as the Golden Horned Beast survived the shot from the laser cannon and then destroyed the Black Dragon Mountain Spaceship Guard and the laser cannon. With no further alternatives, he and Lei Shen prepared to battle the Golden Horned Beast.[74]
Luo Feng met Hong's children and passed them the spear, blade, and body armor created by Babata for Hong and Lei Shen to use against the Golden Horned Beast. With the weaponry in tow, the two flew toward the Pacific Ocean to battle the beast.[75] When they encountered the beast, they both began to use Soul Immolation, going all-out to kill the beast. Aware of its Swallow ability, Hong released tons of space metal from his Space Ring to fill the beast, hiding hydrogen bombs and other atomic bombs with the metal.[76] Hong then used his ultimate technique to drill into the beast, after which he and Lei Shen entered the beast's body to attempt to kill it from within. Unfortunately for the pair, despite their powerful attacks bringing the beast to under the level of an Apprentice Level 1 fighter, it survived and recovered to 30% of its original strength, while Hong and Lei Shen were unable to be detected.[77] As Hong and Lei Shen fell out of the beast's stomach and toward the ocean, Luo Feng's Silverium Guards arrived to protect and retrieve their bodies. After retrieving the bodies, it was confirmed that the two were in a Deep Sleep state.[78]
Nuolan Shan Arc[]
Two years after the Golden Horned Beast Earth Incident, Hong and Lei Shen awoke from their Deep Sleep.[79] Upon awakening, Hong contacted Luo Feng and the three met at the Extreme Martial Club headquarters. After commending Luo Feng's actions against Atkin, Sago Nehru, and Yan Hai, Hong shared with him he and Lei Shen's decision to add Luo Feng to their life-and-death brotherhood. The three committed to train together and pursue true strength in order to defend Earth. After Luo Feng confirmed that he was the Yun Mo Planet Sect, he convinced Hong and Lei Shen to join the sect. After doing so, Hong and Lei Shen then received the Warrior training techniques from the Yun Mo Planet Sect, assisting them in their development.[79] By the summer of 2062, Hong had become a Planetary Level 8 with a 2 level Domain.[4] When Luo Feng left for Horned Dragon Planet, he did not explain his absence to Hong or Lei Shen, instead asking Xu Xin to tell them he was training and could not be disturbed.[80]
Hong discussed Luo Feng's 1-month absence with Lei Shen, noting that everyone has their secrets, and when Luo Feng returned he began sharing his gains from his journey. The three discussed the purchase of the Black Meng Race slaves, and decided what to do with the purchased Purple Light Juice.[81] Noting the importance of making Earth feel the danger of the universe, Hong advised Luo Feng to not share the existence of the Black Meng slaves. At the end of October 2062, Hong helped lead the discussion between the three brothers and Earth's leadership class.[82]
When Bu Luo Nuolan Shan and his team began analyzing Earth, they watched footage of Hong and Lei Shen's battle with the Golden Horned Beast, noting the various treasures used, such as Hong's Space Ring and Cloud Vine armor. By this time, Hong had reached Planetary Level 9.[5] Upon arrival on Earth, Bu Luo and his team attempted to capture the three brothers, but were stopped by the newly purchased slave guards. After learning from Meng 2 about the presence of the Nuolan Shan Family, Hong suggested they disable Bu Luo and his team, then slowly torture and interrogate them for further information.[83] Hong searched the Kaluo Empire network and relayed information about Nuolan Shan and his family, including the shocking knowledge that the family had 7 Universe Level members and at least 8,000 Stellar Level 9 guards.[84]
When Luo Feng told the two that he could access a bank account with the funds necessary to buy Earth, Hong agreed that they had no other choice. Hong accompanied Lei Shen and Luo Feng on a trip to Bai Lan Planet, where he shared with Luo Feng the benefits of meditation on one's mental state.[85] Hong and Lei Shen then joined Luo Feng in traveling to Jade Rock Planet, where they visited a branch of the Universe Star River Bank and Luo Feng purchased Earth. While at the bank branch, they saw three members of the Universe Mercenary Alliance; Hong stated his goal of becoming a Universe Mercenary.[86] When the Nuolan Shan Family officially left Earth, footage of Hong, Lei Shen, and Luo Feng celebrating was played for the Earthlings to see.[87]
While Tuo Lei Wu and his team were fighting Luo Feng's Stellar Level 9 slaves and his Golden Horned Beast Body, Hong and Lei Shen lamented the fact that they were too weak to participate in the battle. Hong then suggested that they head to the Virtual Universe, where he eventually found a suitable place to train: the Killing Fields.[88] Hong and Lei Shen proceeded to spend their days battling in the Killing Fields, seeking to increase their strength. After sharing this information with Luo Feng, the three spent much time in the Killing Fields, with Hong spending 8 consecutive days battling within, never fatiguing.[89] The three made friends in the Killing Fields, including Heruo and Buleimu, two members of North Dragon City who made the three brothers aware of the Universe Trainee Mercenary Exam.
While learning details about the exam from the pair, Hong and the others noticed Nuolan Shan, who was coincidentally also in the Killing Fields hall. The three battled with Nuolan Shan and lost without much effort to the Huge Axe Warrior, but proceeded to continue verbally provoking him.[90] After the altercation, Nuolan Shan coerced Heruo into providing him with Luo Feng's Virtual Universe number, after which Heruo apologized and shared information on the Battle Space with the three brothers. After learning about the Battle Space, the three brothers jumped headfirst into battling other warriors within the space, with Hong eventually winning 696 consecutive battles, going by the name of 'Killer' (杀手, Shāshǒu, lit. Killer), referring to his past as an assassin. In the final battle he defeated a Level 2 elite of the Virtual Universe Company (VUC) by using his ultimate technique This Hate Knows No End.[91]
Unbeknownst to the three brothers, their battles in the Battle Space caught the attention of Man Luo, an Immortal of the VUC, who ordered Ming Yu to have them tested against some elites of the VUC. With Hong's strength as a Planetary Level 9 with a 3 level Domain, he qualified as a Level 1 elite of the VUC. Ming Yu met the brothers and advised that rather fighting in the Battle Space, the three should participate in true life-or-death battles to increase their strength, at which point Hong reflected on his period of growth during the Great Nirvana and realized it was true. After the discussion with Ming Yu, the three brothers refused to join the VUC as internal members, but agreed to join as external members.[92] They then used their privilege as members to purchase Bloodline Evolution Agents, which enabled Hong to breakthrough to Stellar Level 1.[6]
World Within a World and Earning Money[]
After learning the importance of life-or-death battles through their encounter with Ming Yu, Hong, Lei Shen, and Luo Feng decided to participate in the Universe Trainee Mercenary Exam. Since Hong was now a Stellar Level 1 warrior, they were all eligible to participate, and after adding the Stellar Level 9 Warrior Tie Nan He and the Stellar Level 9 Spirit Master Ao Gu to their group, they were comfortable participating in the exam.
The group of 5 traveled to Cang Lan Planet and while Hong was still treated as the eldest brother, Luo Feng led the group due to Ao Gu and Tie Nan He being his slaves and Babata being his AI. Hong provided excellent guidance during the journey, but overall, the three brothers were dependent on the two slaves' strength (particularly Ao Gu's use of the Hybrid Mother Copper shard) and Babata's Scanning Device.
After coming across their friend Heruo and assisting his group, the team became aware of the newly discovered World Within a World on Cang Lan Planet.[93] After learning the importance of the World Within a World from Babata, the group entered the world and began searching for treasure, eventually coming across Universe Crystals, which they dug up. Ming Yu reached out to the group, advising them to state that they were his subordinates, which they did. When Brolin and his team found the castle containing Lord Wu, everyone within the World Within a World became aware of the 68 different treasures (312 total treasures since there were multiples of some) and the need to acquire Thunder Stones to exchange for them.[94] Using Babata's Scanning Device, they acquired enough Thunder Stones to buy one Life Fruit, an Ice Soul Blade, and the Suppressing Space Cauldron.[95] Using the Life Fruit, Luo Feng evolved his Cloud Vine to Universe Level 2[96] and with its strength, they acquired over 9 million more Thunder Stones, and treasures from teams they killed. The team ended up with a total of 49 treasures.[97]
After selling the Air Cutter Blade to Ming Yu for 20 billion Universe Coins, Luo Feng followed the distribution of spoils established by Hong on Earth and sent 4 billion Universe Coins apiece to Hong and Lei Shen.[98] Exchanging the acquired Universe Crystals, Luo Feng sent 1 billion Universe Coins to the pair[99], but the two refused to accept any of the spoils from the sale of the remaining 48 treasures. Hong requested that instead Luo Feng get him a Life Fruit if he had a chance.[100]
Through his Universe Star River Bank account, Luo Feng sold the remaining 48 treasures, earning over 11 trillion Universe Coins, making him a 3-Star member of the bank and giving him the right to attend the Ganwu Auction as well as watch the battles of the Huge Axe Dojo.[101] Noticing a battle between two Universe Level 6 combatants, he contacted Hong and Lei Shen to travel to the dojo to watch the battle with him. The three gambled 100 million Universe Coins on the battle, with Luo Feng and Lei Shen gambling on Genji and Hong betting on Hanks.[99] Hanks emerged victorious after stepping through the gateway of the Law of Water and killing Genji.[102] In the Ganwu Auction, Luo Feng acquired 2 boxes of 100 Lanke Fruits, one of which he gave to Hong to help his Cloud Vine reach Universe Level.[103]
After Lei Shen acquired Lord Wu as a teacher, he trained hard, nearly catching up to Hong after 2 years of training. If not for the Warrior training techniques from the Yun Mo Planet Sect, Hong would have been surpassed, but with those techniques and his prodigious talent, he stayed ahead. He noticed that while Luo Feng was participating in the Ganwu Auction, the Battle Space had been frequented by a large number of powerful geniuses, making it more difficult for Hong to win his battles.[103]
Pinnacle Genius Battle[]
Shortly after losing a close sparring match with Hong, Lei Shen became aware of the Pinnacle Genius Battle, which he then shared with Hong and Luo Feng.[18] With his Domain reaching the 6th level, Hong had reached a new level of strength and was eager to participate in the battle and see just how strong he was. On May 16, 2066, the three brothers entered the Virtual Universe to participate in the genius battle.[104] Hong passed the Ganwu Universe Country Elimination Stage, ranking 982nd in World 72[26], surviving first with a measured approach and finally taking more risk in the final days to ensure he ranked in the top 1,001.
After the elimination stage, he discussed his opponents in the Ganwu Universe Country Arena Stage with Luo Feng and Lei Shen, taking particular note of Savage, the powerful combatant who eliminated Lei Shen.[105] Hong was clear on his strength, noting that he probably would not do much better than Nabini, who was eliminated early in his arena stage.[106] On July 17, 2066, Hong participated in the 161st arena battle.[105] Understanding his overall lack of strength, he focused on killing those weaker than him while not fleeing the battle and drawing the attention of the absolute geniuses. Through this strategy, he made it to the final 20 or so, but caught the interest of the Valiant Female Warrior, who had stepped through the gateway of the Law of Water . Despite his skill and understanding of combat, he was eventually defeated by her ultimate technique, eliminating him from the Pinnacle Genius Battle.[107]
In his performance, Hong drew the attention of a legendary figure in the Black Dragon Mountain Empire: one of the founders of Three Axe Mountain, Luo, also known as the Time World Master. Observing Hong's final battle in the arena stage, where he broke through to the 7th level of Domain, he asked his subordinate Jiang Tian Chen for additional information on Hong. Luo, Ming Yu, and Jiang Tian Chen traveled to Luo Feng's house on Black Dragon Mountain Island, where Luo proposed to become Hong's teacher! Noting their similarities in character and talent, Luo told Hong that he only had 20,000 years left to live, but with his talent in Law of Light , he was fully capable of teaching Hong. After sharing his status as a Domain Master Huge Axe Warrior and as a top-3 World Master in the Ganwu Universe Country, he gave Hong 10 days to consider becoming his student.
Hong shared the information with Luo Feng and Lei Shen, and Babata advised that it was a great idea to become Luo's student.[108] After watching Luo Feng's battle with Rong Jun and realizing just how wide the gap was between himself and Luo Feng, Hong made his decision, choosing to accompany Luo in his final 20,000 years as his student.[109] As a Huge Axe Warrior, while his status had declined due to his impending death, Luo still had no issues getting Hong accepted as a member of the Huge Axe Dojo.[110] Hong left with Luo on July 27, 2066.[109]
Falling in Love[]
While Luo Feng was participating in his first Secret Realm Qualification Battle, Hong was accompanying his teacher Time World Master Luo to the Ganwu Universe Country, having been stationed there for 10 years. He spent his time on one of the 9 Great 1st Class Administrative Planets of the universe country, Jade Dome Planet, where he met Ji Qing and fell in love.[15] As one of the 9 great administrative planets, Jade Dome Planet is a luxurious gathering location for the powerful, with the number of families with Immortals numbering in the hundreds. Ji Qing, for example, is a member of the Ji Family, one of the 300 noble families of the universe country.[111]
After learning of Hong's relationship with Ji Qing, her family intruded, stopping them from being together without giving Hong an explanation. While talking with Lei Shen, he eventually revealed the situation, causing Lei Shen to reach out to Luo Feng for help. With Luo Feng's assistance, he learned of Ji Qing's true background: a rare absolute genius and a core member of the Universe Mercenary Alliance.[111] While undeterred by her status, Hong understood that there was no way he could stop her family from stopping their relationship, so he asked Luo Feng if he could help. With a laugh, Luo Feng noted all of the help Hong had given him over the years and stated it was his turn to return the favor. Hong naturally cared for Luo Feng in a way a senior cares for their junior, and he never thought Luo Feng would be able to reciprocate, yet that was exactly what happened.
As he was still following his teacher, Luo, he became acquainted with one of Luo's friends, the Immortal Bushi Ka. Bushi Ka learned of Hong and Ji Qing's relationship when the Ji Family showed up at his family's residence, at which point Hong felt that if Bushi Ka had not been present, he may have died at that moment.[112] After breaking through to Domain Master and having the Virtual Universe Company (VUC) begin repairing the Yun Mo Spaceship, Luo Feng and Dylan departed for Jade Dome Planet to meet Hong. By this time, Bushi Ka had attempted to meet with Silver Snow Marquis, the leader of the Ji Family, but Silver Snow ignored him, causing Hong some anguish. This fell within Luo Feng's expectations, so he asked Hong to wait a little longer, as once he officially became the Supervisor Envoy of the Ganwu Universe Country Department of the Virtual Universe Company, he would have true authority.[112]
On Jade Dome Planet, Hong, Dylan, and Luo Feng were approached by Ji Qing's father, Ji Lan Deng, and his bodyguard. Lan Deng began by acknowledging that Hong was exceptional, but eventually told him that he and her were in different classes and for him to never contact his daughter again.[113] His true wishes beneath the courtesies were for Hong to immediately leave the planet and vanish from Ji Qing's world! Having witnessed this, Luo Feng was even more resolved to help, and he sent Hong back to Bushi Ka's residence to wait for his assistance.[114] With the Yun Mo Spaceship fully repaired and the VUC having sent the official deployment order confirming his status as the Supervisor Envoy, Luo Feng took action.
The welcoming ceremony for a Supervisor Envoy is a prestigious event, so Silver Snow Marquis was invited, among the other powerful families of the Ganwu Universe Country. During the ceremony, Luo Feng advised a World Master to bring Hong to the main hall and have him shout for Luo Feng when he saw him talking with Silver Snow Marquis. When Hong did so, Luo Feng explained that Hong was his big brother, his sworn life-and-death brother, and they discussed Hong's predicament.[115] After their discussion, Luo Feng explained to Hong that rather than the Ji Family stopping the relationship, it was Ji Qing's teacher, Phantom Spirit King, a legendary Pinnacle Immortal King existence whose disciples were never allowed to be in relationships. Undaunted, Hong asked Luo Feng to help him meet Phantom Spirit King once, which he did with the assistance of Silver Snow Marquis.
Meeting Phantom Spirit King[]
Phantom Spirit King agreed to meet Hong, sending Bu She La to meet him and Luo Feng at Nine Star Bay and then bring them to her palace.[116] Hong shocked her with his courage and mental fortitude, and she gave him a chance to gamble his life to be with Ji Qing, with two choices. The first choice was to wait until he reached World Master Pinnacle and fought in the Extraterritorial Battlefield, at which point if he was able to earn a 1st class medal she would neither stop their relationship nor expel Ji Qing. The second choice was to attempt her 18 Desires for Love Fantasy Land, and if he passed all 18 levels, she would neither stop their relationship nor expel Ji Qing. However, if he failed, she would order the Universe Mercenary Alliance to send powerful warriors to kill him. The first choice was clearly safer and gave him much more time, but with absolute faith in his mental strength, Hong chose the latter and attempted to pass all 18 levels of her illusion technique. He even added that if he failed, he would immediately kill himself at a Universe Mercenary Alliance branch, with the scene broadcast live for her.[117]
To nearly everyone's surprise (Lei Shen had full faith in his abilities[118]), Hong passed all 18 levels[118], and, unbeknownst to everyone except Luo Feng and Lei Shen, he did so easily[119]. However, despite her promise, Phantom Spirit King visited Ji Qing and showed her a book. In the conversation they had, something was expressed that caused Ji Qing to break off her relationship with Hong directly, stunning him. After wishing her well and apologizing, Hong left with Luo Feng, telling him that he knew that since she made the final decision, she would stick to it. Instead of dwelling in sadness at the rejection, Hong focused on the fact that due to his passing the 18 Desires for Love technique, he was able to join the special elite training camp of the Huge Axe Dojo.[120]
Huge Axe Dojo[]
By following Time World Master Luo, Hong became a member of the Huge Axe Dojo, but was not accepted as a core member.[110] However, his performance passing the 18 Desires for Love Fantasy Land was noticed by the upper echelons of the dojo, who arranged for him to join the special elites training camp of the dojo.[120] During his time in the special elites training camp, Hong was finally accepted into the core of the dojo and traveled to Primal Chaos City, training there for 100 years, a complete surprise to Luo Feng and Lei Shen![121]
The day before Luo Feng had his final encounter with Nightmare Candle King, Hong attempted Fantasy Ocean. With his incredible mental strength, he passed 20 of the 21 islands of Fantasy Ocean, immediately getting the attention of Void Gold Master and Huge Axe Creator, with the latter immediately accepting Hong as his disciple![122] Due to the status of Huge Axe Creator, Void Gold Master was made Hong's teacher, but once Hong became an Immortal King, he would officially become a true disciple of Huge Axe Creator, the only active True God of the Human Race! When investigating Hong, Huge Axe Creator and Void Gold Master learned that both he and Luo Feng were from Earth, prompting Huge Axe Creator to investigate Earth.[123] This investigation caused the Universe Venerables to send their people to Earth, resulting in Luo Feng's encounters with Venerable Undying and Nightmare Candle King.[124] With his status as a disciple-in-name to Huge Axe Creator, Hong was able to speak with Void Gold Master, who sent Venerable Fire Erosion to resolve the conflict and place his son in the 9th Starfield Prison for 1,000 eras![125] Through this conflict, Hong (and later Luo Feng and Lei Shen) learned Earth's secret: it had been specially remodeled by a True God (Sitting Mountain Guest) so that beings born there would have extremely high levels of mental state! They also learned of the Flame God Race, a powerful race with strong bodies but weaker mental states, that inhabited Earth before the current Earthlings. Thus, Luo Feng learned the true value of Earth.
When training under Void Gold Master, Hong learned that his training path would take very long, despite his strong mental state, due to his relatively low law comprehension (compared to geniuses like Luo Feng). With Hong's mental strength in mind, Void Gold Master designed a path for him to follow, one of an Illusionist Warrior, attacking physically while using Illusion Techniques. To protect Hong, everything about him was confidential and he was still an outermost core member (akin to the Last Phase Secret Realm), with even the Universe Venerables being unaware of him. However, in truth, he had an incredibly high status, even recommending Lei Shen to Void Gold Master so one of his disciples could accept him.[122]
Eventually, Hong became one of the first 11 Immortals of the Earthling line.[8] Later, he became an Immortal King named Illusion World King (幻界王, Huàn jiè wáng, lit. Illusion/Fantasy/Phantom World King), officially becoming Huge Axe Creator's disciple and training in his Miniature Universe.[9] Void Gold Master noted that while he started out slow in the beginning, he continued making breakthrough after breakthrough, reaching the average level of his disciples.
When Huge Axe Creator was killed, Hong was one of the 399 Immortal Kings capable of Teleportation who worked to save the human elites who were living in his Miniature Universe.[126] He was horrified at the thought of Huge Axe Creator's death, knowing he was the cornerstone of the Human Race. By the time Luo Feng successfully completed the task at Wu Qi Tower, Hong had become a Universe Venerable[10].
Sector Beast Crisis[]
After the Human Race defeated the Allied Forces Military Faction, a new Human Era was established. During this era, Hong achieved new levels of strength, becoming the 2nd Universe Master of the Earthling line in the 13,000th era after the appearance of the World of Jin.[11] Refusing to be satisfied with that, he continued to cultivate, eventually becoming the 1st True God of the Earthling line (and 23rd of the Human Race during the Human Era) nearly 1.6 trillion eras later[12].
Despite being considered an average True God, with his well-known strong Willpower and Mechanical Treasures, Hong was one of the two True Gods chosen to head to the Sector Beast Nest in the Land of Darkness.[127] He and Pupil Devil God headed there in their Xeon Arcana spaceships and wee attacked by 3 Sector Beasts at the same time. They survived the initial attacks and exited their spaceships, but were hit with multiple Silent Scream attacks, causing them great pain. They were then attacked directly, with Pupil Devil God being severely injured, and retreated.[127]
Due to his mediocre Divine Body, Hong could not be counted on to defeat a Sector Beast and he was not one of the Eight Great Overlords of Universe Ocean, but he was still a respected contributor to strategy meetings, and he was a member of Luo Feng's Star Tower team, along with Fire Dome. Hong was present when Luo Feng received the word that Purple Moon Ancestor no longer required his assistance and thus would not give him the final component of the Chaotic Golden Wings.[128] As a member of the Star Tower team, he was also present for Luo Feng's battle with Morosa that forced Morosa back to the first stage of a Sector Beast.
As Hong was too detached from the other powers on Luo Feng's side, he did not become the leader of the Milky Way Kingdom, leading to Xi Mo becoming its leader.[129] Nevertheless, Hong was still considered a greatly respected elder of the Earthlings.

Strength[]
Hong had a Domain at the Planetary Level, causing him to be called invincible at the Planetary Level![2] When initially discovered by Ming Yu, he was considered a Level 1 Elite of the Black Dragon Mountain Department of the Virtual Universe Company.[130] Even at the Stellar Level, where many other geniuses had domains, his skill and understanding allowed him to fight those at a higher level than himself.[30] His performance during the Pinnacle Genius Battle established him as a Starfield-level genius.[131]
His mental state is exceptional, even among Earthlings, who have a higher than average potential in mental state. At the Universe Level he was capable of passing all 18 levels of the Phantom Spirit King's 18 Desires for Love Fantasy Land.[118] Likewise, at the Universe Level, he was only stopped by the Universe Venerable-level Consciousness and Willpower of the 21st island of Fantasy Ocean![122] Even Luo Feng stopped at the 10th island![132] His Willpower was considered so exceptional that despite being much weaker than Luo Feng, he was immediately accepted as Huge Axe Creator's disciple, and assigned Void Gold Master as his teacher until he reached the Immortal King level.[122]
While his path to Immortal and beyond was much longer than Luo Feng's, he eventually became the 2nd Earthling Universe Master[11], and later their first True God[12], trusted with the initial journey into the Land of Darkness to gather intel on the Sector Beasts[127]. While he was seen as an average True God (in part because of his mediocre Divine Body), he was still respected for his Void True God-level Willpower[133], and even Sitting Mountain Guest acknowledged his talent[134].
