Appearance[]
In the novel, Hu Yan Bo is described as about 3 meters tall, with two flexible antenna on his forehead. Other than the size of his body and the antennae, he looks exactly like an Earthling. He wore a black robe that shined dimly, and had long hair that spread out. His face was extremely handsome, and his two narrow, long eyes were quite feminine; even as a corpse, his peculiar beauty could shake one's spirit.
In the donghua, he appears to be larger than 3 meters, and looks more like a dark knight or soldier. His face is obscured by his helmet and we do not see his hair.
Personality[]
Hu Yan Bo was very respectful of the universe and dangers within. He understood his strength and used it when he knew he had the advantage, but tried not to provoke those stronger than him. He seemed to have the wisdom one would expect of an Immortal, passing down many sayings to Babata, and did not show any arrogance to Luo Feng, despite being his (technical) teacher.
Biography[]
Hu Yan Bo was the master of Planet Yun Mo and the Sect Master of the Yun Mo Planet Sect. He lived for around 60 million years, cultivating to the level of Immortal Marquis, and built some reputation in the Ganwu Universe Country due to his skill. Through his travels, he acquired the AI Babata and provided him with a body, which Babata used to spread his name across many galaxies.[5] They fought together in countless battles, establishing a very deep father/son or older/younger brother relationship. He died about 50,000 years before the start of the story, and his inheritance provides the catalyst for Luo Feng to grow into a powerful warrior.
Original Life[]
Hu Yan Bo was a talented Spirit Master, with a focus on soul techniques. With his knowledge of the Possession technique, he eventually took over the body of a youth of the Longke Clan, one of the top-30 bloodlines of the Human Race, after which his training speed and thus his strength soared.[6] With his talent, new body, and dedication to training, Hu Yan Bo eventually became an Immortal, and even reached the level of Immortal Marquis.[7]
Hu Yan Bo created the Soul Seal technique, and used the Enslaving Soul Seal to obtain 9 soul slaves, one of whom, Iron Sword Marquis, got on many people's bad side, according to King Long Jue.[8] With his skill, he also crafted Spirit Weapons, including the Soaring Shuttle[9], along with manuals detailing their usage. He used the money he earned throughout his life to supplement his strength, acquiring a Cloud Vine that he raised to Immortal-level, essentially doubling his strength[10], and building the Yun Mo Spaceship, paying a powerful warrior to add Original Law engravings, increasing its strength and defense.[11] Knowing that he was still far from the truly strong, when he encountered a World Master Zerg Race mother nest in the Extraterritorial Battlefield, he used a soul attack technique to put it into a coma so that in the future he could enslave it and have an enormous Zerg Race army![12]
Due to the proximity of Earth to Planet Yun Mo, and the many races with good potential on the planet, he made Earth part of his territory. Since it belonged to the Silverblue Empire, he used strength to claim it, using a single spirit energy attack to destroy an enormous interstellar fleet and annihilate the souls of the soldiers, causing the spaceships to fall onto various planets in the area.[13] This included the mothership containing the Black Dragon Mountain X81 Spaceship that crashed on Earth. As an Immortal Marquis, he had no reason to fear or respect the Silverblue Empire, or even the Black Dragon Mountain Empire, as neither had an Immortal strong enough to face him. Even within the Ganwu Universe Country, as a true Immortal Marquis, he was formidable, someone who would have required actual resources to kill.[14]
He was talented in Law of Space and used a flying technique called Space Control, which was rarely seen, but comparable in strength to the 10,000 Thread Flow technique.[15] He used special space techniques to conceal Earth and the surrounding 1,000 light-years within the Dark Universe, effectively hiding it from universe locators and maps, making it very unlikely for someone weaker than him to locate Earth.[16]
His territory established, he also worked to create the Yun Mo Planet Sect. Despite being a Spirit Master himself, most of his Immortal underlings were warriors.[17] He created many manuals and acquired more from his 9 Immortal soul slaves.[18] Knowing the gaps in his abilities, he trained in the techniques of others when necessary, such as the Tower of the Void soul defense technique.[19] His best techniques could be considered normal level according to Primal Chaos City Leader.[20]
Death[]
Despite his abilities and respect for the strength of the universe, Hu Yan Bo fell in a large battle with Suo Luo Pu over a particular treasure that is never specified. Since Suo Luo Pu was a Pinnacle Immortal Marquis, close in strength to a Low Immortal King, and was also a Spirit Master, he was able to damage Hu Yan Bo with a soul attack through his spaceship's defenses, killing his World Master disciple.[21]
Hu Yan Bo survived, fleeing into the Dark Universe[22], but eventually succumbed to the damage from the attack, with the Yun Mo Spaceship crashing onto Earth. However, before his death he established his inheritance to be passed down.[21] While all of his remaining soul slaves died with him, Babata survived, albeit without a physical body. In this battle, Planet Yun Mo was also destroyed, and the entire Yun Mo Planet Sect was eradicated.[5]
Resurrection[]
At the conclusion of the Human Race Survival War, Luo Feng, who had recently broke through to Universe Master, travelled to the rebuilt Planet Yun Mo. He resurrected Hu Yan Bo, his 9 soul slaves, and even brought back the original Yun Mo Spaceship, as a token of his gratitude toward both he and Babata, who heavily influenced the beginning of his journey as a warrior.[23] Choosing to show respect and not accidentally antagonize Luo Feng, he exchanged universe numbers and learned Luo Feng's story through Babata. While curious how an Earthling became a Universe Master in only 200,000 years, he also understood that his future was bright as long as he did not act foolishly, due to his direct connection with such a great being.[24]
After his resurrection, Hu Yan Bo continued to train and travel, and in the 39,000th era after the appearance of the body of the God King of Jin, he was admitted into the Virtual Universe Company, eventually becoming a Universe Venerable with the guidance of the Duan Dong River inheritance left to the Human Race.[25] As he had no guidance from great beings in his original life, he was considered a talent for how much he learned on his own. Eight hundred eras later, Hu Yan Bo discovered that Suo Luo Pu was still alive, and after some twists, killed him after a hunt that lasted 3 eras.[25]
Hu Yan Bo was one of those who gathered in front of the palace on the square in Milky Way Holy Land before Luo Feng left to fight Mo He.[26]
