Etymology[]
Also known as Thor or Thunder God (in Donghua translation version).
雷神 léi shén: literally translated as God of Thunder. However, 雷 léi is also a common surname in China and personal names should not be translated.
Appearance[]
In the novel, he is a bald monk dressed in white. In the donghua, he has short brown hair, but otherwise looks similar to a monk. He has a blue crystal on his forehead.
Age[]
Thunder God was born before the Great Nirvana, making him at least 43 by the beginning of Swallowed Star. Babata states that he and Hong are each older than Luo Feng's grandfather[12]!
Personality[]
Thunder God is a relaxed individual, full of jokes. Despite having similar mental strength, he has a completely different personality from Hong. He is affable and shows more emotion than Hong, and his joking nature leads to many funny moments between he, Hong, and Luo Feng.And The Only Opponent Whom He Was Kinda Afraid Of Was Rongen In Talent Peak Battles Of VUC.
Even though he's a jokester, when circumstances require seriousness, he shows incredible resolve and courage. During the battle with the Golden Horned Beast, he was willing to sacrifice himself for the planet, continuing to fight even after losing the lower half of his body. He had no problem killing an Earthling who was not working for the betterment of the species, and he holds grudges, as seen by his reaction to Luo Di's rudeness to the trio. For all of his differences with Hong, they shared extremely high expectations of themselves, and a strict commitment to hard work.
Luo Feng does not consider him as reliable as Hong, but he thinks the same of himself[13].
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Thunder God was born before the Great Nirvana to a Chinese father and an Indian mother[14]. His father was a Yoga master who once went to India to study yoga, where he met Thunder God's mother and later returned to China. Training under his father from a young age, he had pretty good yoga, and due to the influence of movies and television, he grew to love Chinese martial arts. With the combination of his skills in yoga and Chinese martial arts, he built a reputation in martial arts circles as the 'Thunder Madman' (雷疯子), a powerful and competitive mixed-blood youngster.
The Great Nirvana[]
The Great Nirvana was a period of great upheavals and turmoil on Earth. Many Earthlings died and many cities were destroyed by the attacks of Mutant Beasts. Thunder God fought to save humanity, and killed the most famous and horrifying monster of 2015, the Blood Demon Sky Wolf[15]. While battling these monsters and protecting humanity, he combined his Chinese martial arts and Yoga to create the body and blade technique, Nine Stage Thunder Blade.
During this time, he met his future life-and-death brother, Hong. The two trained and fought together, challenging their limits and growing stronger at an incredibly rapid pace. They both broke through to Planetary Level during the Great Nirvana[16], with Thunder God progressing further due to his body's strength, speed, durability, and muscle usage, while Hong maintained a greater overall strength due to his perception and tactical acumen[14]. Thunder God had great respect for Hong, exclaiming that even in the most dire situations, he always made the impossible possible[17]. By the end of the Great Nirvana, Thunder God was the second-strongest Earthling, trailing only Hong.
After the Great Nirvana: The Thunder Dojo[]
As the second-strongest Earthling, Thunder God was more powerful than anyone on Earth other than Hong. Like Hong, he was more important than an entire country; his authority had surpassed the restrictions of the normal world. He could even kill a fellow Planetary Level fighter without consequence! With his power, he had more money than he could spend, and with one phrase, he could even shake the entire HR Alliance.
Rather than joining Hong in creating the Extreme Martial Club, he created a rival organization, the Thunder Dojo, with locations all around the world. While it was less powerful than the Extreme Martial Club, it competed with it on every level, fighting over talented prospects, resources, and prestige. Like Hong, he turned a blind eye to his subordinates competing with the Extreme Martial Club, recognizing the benefits of competition.
He worked with Hong and created the Palace of Gods of War, a virtual gathering place for the strongest Earthlings. Alongside Hong, Thunder God presided over affairs between the most powerful fighters on Earth. He sometimes went to the Elite Training Camp to teach young talents, and offered to take on the most talented as his disciple.
During this period, Thunder God had his daughter, Lei Lei. His partner died early in Lei Lei's life, so he raised her on his own, spoiling and pampering her. When she was 16, Thunder God killed her first love, with the implication being that he had harmed her in some way. His daughter, extremely angry with her father's actions, left home, leaving behind cruel words and not speaking to him for about 16 years. In the Donghua this was changed to him disagreeing with their marriage. Lei Lei and her boyfriend thus eloped and cut contact with Thunder God.
Meeting Luo Feng[]
After presiding over the trial of Li Yao and Venina Paulinus, Thunder God and Hong discussed Luo Feng's efforts to kill Li Yao, who had broken through to Planetary Level, noting that he had high potential and could possibly help them in the future. He expressed concern with Luo Feng's courage in attacking someone that far ahead of him. He was shocked when he learned from his subordinate, Amuhan, that Luo Feng killed Li Yao, and joined Hong in reminding the representatives present that if any of them acted against humanity, they would have no problem killing them!
He then met Luo Feng for the first time, with the three discussing the Soaring Shuttle and how Luo Feng knew how to use it so well. Revealing that he and Hong had discovered the Soaring Shuttle and spent a lot of time trying to use it, he hoped for more details from Luo Feng. After Luo Feng left, Thunder God noted that he thought he was hiding something, prompting Hong to speak on their efforts to break through to the Stellar Level. The pair, unrivaled on Earth, understood how insignificant they were in the universe and were committed to improving their strength so they could protect their fellow Earthlings.
The Misty Island[]
Immediately after their discussion, Thunder God and Hong were informed by Allure of a change at the Misty Island[18]. Thunder God was shocked, remembering that that was where Hong acquired the Cloud Vine.
On the day Luo Feng would become an Inspector, Thunder God and Hong traveled to the Misty Island, spending the trip discussing the treasures on the island and the upcoming battle with the Beast Emperor, Tentacle Beast. The two agreed not to fight each other over the treasures, with Hong stating that it would be up to luck. After remarking on Hong's greed, Thunder God accompanied him to the Extreme Martial Club's World Headquarters for Luo Feng's Inspector Ceremony. The trio headed to the Misty Island after the ceremony.
Upon arriving at the island, Thunder God noted that the Tentacle Beast would be at its strongest in the water, and asked Hong if just having the Cloud Vine gave him the confidence to win in this second battle with the beast. After Hong stated he was three times more confident in his chances since he had the vine, he also noted that without killing the beast, there was no way for them to get the island's treasures. Thunder God laughed that Hong killing the beast would help the five countries, the HR Alliance, and himself, prompting Hong to again state that acquiring the treasures relies on luck, fate, and destiny. Thunder God then stayed behind and watched Hong defeat the Tentacle Beast, marveling at his strength. When Hong simply nodded after Thunder God acknowledged his strength, he joked that Hong wasn't even a little modest.
The assembled representatives and Gods of War then explored the island for treasure, with Luo Feng and Mo Henderson discovering a Muya Crystal. Thunder God later appeared, noting that Luo Feng was Hong's lucky star, then examined the split head of the Earth Dragon King with Hong. After the discussion determined that the treasure was a Muya Crystal, Thunder God noted that the identity of the treasure was stated intentionally, then began searching for crystals like the others. He obtained at least 2 Muya Crystals.
Golden Horned Beast Crisis[]
After America was attacked by the Golden Horned Beast, Thunder God joined Hong, Mo Henderson, and other representatives and country leaders to discuss the crisis. While initially he wasn't too fearful of the beast, once he saw that it was unharmed by the Laser Cannons, even he felt true fear. He and Hong discussed the chances of Hong defeating a Stellar Level 1 swallowing beast, with Hong expressing some hope due to his strength and the Cloud Vine. He watched with Hong and the others as the autojets launched the atomic and hydrogen bomb attack and failed to kill the beast.
With humanity's greatest weapons ineffective, Thunder God and Hong hid in the training room of the Extreme Martial Club's spaceship, with Hong helping Thunder God comprehend Domain. The two of them were pleased with Luo Feng's strength as he defeated the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor. Noting that he and Hong had been life-and-death brothers for a few dozen years, Thunder God stated that it was unimaginable for the pair to retreat in the face of this disaster. The pair agreed to risk their lives to defeat the beast. Standing side-by-side, they announced to the most powerful people on Earth their intentions to fight to the death, but were interrupted when Luo Feng suggested that he had a guaranteed way to kill the beast: the Black Dragon Mountain X81 Laser Cannon.
Thunder God joined Hong, Jia Yi, and others on Luo Feng's balcony, watching as the Black Dragon Mountain Spaceship Guard fired the laser cannon at the beast, destroying its head. Thunder God poured wine for the assembled, and began to celebrate when the top half of the beast's head was blown off. He, like the others, were shocked when the beast rushed into the ocean, clearly still alive. Thunder God and Hong, noting that the beast should be a lot weaker now that it was damaged by the laser, once again agreed to risk it all to kill the beast.
Thunder God recorded a video for his daughter, Lei Lei, stating that he promised her mother that he would protect her, and that following that promise, he was going out to battle the Golden Horned Beast. He received an armor and blade forged by Babata from Luo Feng (through Hong's children), and was impressed with the blade's sturdiness and balance. He and Hong then flew above the sea, tracing the beast's life force to confront it, eventually fighting it above the Pacific Ocean. With the entire world watching, Thunder God jokingly wondered how many people were watching them, and Hong noted that even in a time like this, Thunder God maintained his mischievous face that he had had for decades.
Encountering the Golden Horned Beast, the pair began to use Soul Immolation and Domain, frantically attacking the beast. After Hong sealed the beast's swallowing ability by releasing tons of metal and hydrogen bombs, the pair used their strongest attacks, with Hong drilling a hole in the beast's abdomen. At that moment, the beast attacked Thunder God, reducing his body into minced meat from the waist down, but even in this state, he wrapped lightning around his lower half and entered the beast's abdomen with Hong, attacking the beast from the inside. The pair used their full remaining strength but were unable to kill the beast, falling through the hole in its stomach toward the ocean, but were protected by the Silverium Guards. Babata noted that the pair hadn't died, but due to their use of Soul Immolation, they fell into a Deep Sleep. After Luo Feng defeated the Golden Horned Beast, Thunder God was among the Eight Heroes memorialized for their sacrifice.
A New World[]
Thunder God and Hong remained in a Deep Sleep at the Extreme Martial Club headquarters after Luo Feng reappeared in his new Earthling Body. The pair finally woke up in Spring 2062, and met with Luo Feng shortly after awakening. Thanking Luo Feng for defeating the Golden Horned Beast and resolving the issues caused by Atkin, Sago Nehru, and Yan Hai, Thunder God and Hong acknowledged Luo Feng as their third brother. The trio decided to work harder to get stronger and break through to the Stellar Level. Luo Feng convinced Babata to accept Thunder God and Hong as Yun Mo Planet Sect disciples, allowing them to access better training methods.
In the summer of 2062, Thunder God, jealous of Luo Feng for killing the Thunder Dragon Emperor, sparred with him but was forced to submit under the attack of the Swordfish Formation. With his training in the Yun Mo Planet Sect's secret manuals, he had broken through to Planetary Level 9, with a one layer Domain. Thunder God noted that in addition to Hong, who had always been stronger than him, now there was Luo Feng, who was so much younger but also stronger than him.
Upon Luo Feng's return to Earth from Horned Dragon Planet, he, Hong, and Thunder God discussed plans to increase the Earth's strength. Thunder God and Hong were shocked to hear that in the universe, even Stellar Level fighters were enslaved. Agreeing to keep Luo Feng's slave army a secret, they agreed to meet with the leaders of Earth and detailed the weakness of Earth and their plans for the future.
Nuolan Shan Arc[]
Two years after the Golden Horned Beast Earth Incident, Thunder God and Hong awoke from their Deep Sleep[19]. Upon awakening, Hong contacted Luo Feng and the three met at the Extreme Martial Club headquarters. After commending Luo Feng's actions against Atkin, Sago Nehru, and Yan Hai, Hong shared with him he and Thunder God's decision to add Luo Feng to their life-and-death brotherhood. The three committed to train together and pursue true strength in order to defend Earth. After Luo Feng confirmed that he was the Yun Mo Planet Sect, he convinced Thunder God and Hong to join the sect. After doing so, Thunder God and Hong then received the Warrior training techniques from the Yun Mo Planet Sect, assisting them in their development[19]. By the summer of 2062, Thunder God had become a Planetary Level 9 with a 1 level Domain[3]. When Luo Feng left for Horned Dragon Planet, he did not explain his absence to Thunder God or Hong, instead asking Xu Xin to tell them he was training and could not be disturbed[20].
Hong discussed Luo Feng's 1-month absence with Thunder God, noting that everyone has their secrets, and when Luo Feng returned he began sharing his gains from his journey. The three discussed the purchase of the Black Meng Race slaves, and decided what to do with the purchased Purple Light Juice[21]. Noting the importance of making Earth feel the danger of the universe, Hong advised Luo Feng to not share the existence of the Black Meng slaves. At the end of October 2062, Thunder God helped lead the discussion between the three brothers and Earth's leadership class[22].
When Bu Luo Nuolanshan and his team began analyzing Earth, they watched footage of Thunder God and Hong's battle with the Golden Horned Beast. Upon arrival on Earth, Bu Luo and his team attempted to capture the three brothers, but were stopped by the newly purchased slave guards. After learning from Meng 2 about the presence of the Nuolan Shan Family, Thunder God suggested that they kill Bu Luo and his team, but was stopped by Hong, who first wanted to acquire more information[23].
When Luo Feng told the two that he could access a bank account with the funds necessary to buy Earth, Thunder God and Hong agreed to work to help Luo Feng reach the Stellar Level so he could access it. The trio took the Black Dragon Mountain X81 Spaceship to Bai Lan Planet, where Thunder God was amazed during his first time leaving Earth[24]. His relaxed state of mind shocked Luo Feng, who didn't know his mental strength. Thunder God, Luo Feng, and Hong eventually checked out Survival Bases, meeting the rude manager Luo Di. After Luo Feng sold the Black Dragon Mountain X81 Spaceship and earned enough money to buy the Survival Bases, Thunder God made sure Luo Feng lodged a complaint against Luo Di for his bad attitude, resulting in him getting fired. Thunder God's family, like Hong's and Luo Feng's, was allowed more space in the Survival Bases than other Earthlings.
During this time, Thunder God broke through to Stellar Level 1 with the assistance of the Yun Mo Planet Sect's secret manuals and assisting treasures purchased in their time on Jade Rock Planet[4]. He was a bit anxious about Luo Feng's attempt to break through to Stellar Level 1, and was present to hear about Pula Nuolanshan and his group's arrival on Earth. After Luo Feng broke through to Stellar Level 1, Thunder God and Hong accompanied him to the Universe Star River Bank, where Luo Feng accessed the first of the three bank accounts that Hu Yan Bo left behind, acquiring 10 billion Ganwu Coins[25]. Thunder God was incredibly impressed both by the bank's building and some of the clients, which included three 1-Star Universe Mercenaries. When the Nuolan Shan Family officially left Earth, footage of Thunder God, Hong, and Luo Feng celebrating was played for the Earthlings to see[26].
When Luo Feng successfully purchased the rights to Earth, the trio left to contact Earth. Along the way, they stopped in the Virtual Universe, where Thunder God noted that when they next visited, they should buy a house in the Virtual Universe. He was extremely excited when, on the surface, the Nuolan Shan Family left Earth, and he couldn't wait to return to Earth. While the trio were purchasing their house in the Virtual Universe, they received word that more aliens attacked the Luo Family home, but since he and Hong were only Stellar Level 1 and Planetary Level 9, respectively, they understood that they would be of no use in a battle with Stellar Level 9s.
While Tuo Lei Wu and his team were fighting Luo Feng's Stellar Level 9 slaves and his Golden Horned Beast Body, Thunder God and Hong lamented the fact that they were too weak to participate in the battle. Hong then suggested that they head to the Virtual Universe, where he eventually found a suitable place to train: the Killing Fields[27]. In their time in the Killing Fields, they made some friends, including Gaia Heruo and Hook Brehm, and learned of Man Luo, the man in charge of the Black Dragon Mountain Island division of the Killing Fields.
After experiencing some time there, Thunder God and Hong, having noticeably changed somewhat, suggested to Luo Feng that he take advantage as well. During his time in the Killing Fields, Luo Feng realized that the only reason he could defeat Thunder God was because his Soaring Shuttle was superior to Thunder God's blade. Later, the trio purchased a plot of land within Black Dragon Mountain Island's Nine Star Bay, then subsequently purchased several houses. Afterwards, they also sent a large number of Awareness Helmets to Earth.
The trio continued to spend much time in the Killing Fields, with Thunder God spending 3 consecutive days without leaving. They later learned of the Universe Trainee Mercenary Exam from Heruo and Buleimu, two members of North Dragon City. While learning details about the exam from the pair, Thunder God and the others noticed Nuolan Shan, who was coincidentally also in the Killing Fields hall. The three battled with Nuolan Shan and lost without much effort from the Huge Axe Warrior, but proceeded to continue verbally provoking him. After the altercation, Nuolan Shan coerced Heruo into providing him with Luo Feng's Virtual Universe number, after which Heruo apologized and shared information on the Battle Space with the three brothers. After learning about the Battle Space, the three brothers jumped headfirst into battling other warriors within the space, with Thunder God reaching the 8 Star rank, with a record of 691 wins and 3 losses. He met the White-Robed Female Warrior (Ji Qing in the donghua) in the Battle Space, and, like Luo Feng, lost easily.
Unbeknownst to the three brothers, their battles in the Battle Space caught the attention of Man Luo, an Immortal of the Virtual Universe Company (VUC), who ordered Ming Yu to have them tested against some elites of the VUC. With Thunder God's strength as a Stellar Level 1 with a 1 layer Domain, he qualified as a Level 3 elite of the VUC. Ming Yu met the brothers and advised that rather fighting in the Battle Space, the three should participate in true life-or-death battles to increase their strength, at which point Hong reflected on his period of growth during the Great Nirvana and realized it was true. After the discussion with Ming Yu, the three brothers refused to join the VUC as internal members, but agreed to join as external members[28]. They then used their privilege as members to purchase Bloodline Evolution Agents, which enabled Thunder God to breakthrough to Stellar Level 2[5].
World Within a World and Earning Money[]
After learning the importance of life-or-death battles through their encounter with Ming Yu, Thunder God, Hong, and Luo Feng decided to participate in the Universe Trainee Mercenary Exam[5]. Since Hong was now a Stellar Level 1 warrior, they were all eligible to participate, and after adding the Stellar Level 9 Warrior Tie Nan He and the Stellar Level 9 Spirit Master Ao Gu to their group, they were comfortable participating in the exam.
The group of 5 traveled to Cang Lan Planet, where they learned that Nuolan Shan was part of Hundred Tigers Building[29], then entered the World of Thunder to complete their exam. Upon landing in the World of Thunder, they were shocked by the hardness of the sand and the world's gravity, and learned that both were affected by the Universe Crystals which made up the world[30]. After escaping the Death Desert and its Death Dust Storm, they eventually made it to the Demon Moon Lake, where they waited for the One-Horned Iron Rhinoceros, one of their goals of the exam.
While waiting for an opportunity to obtain 5 horns from the rhinos, they watched Brolin's team easily deal with the herd of rhinos, leaving many horns behind. With the team's strength, Thunder God guessed that Brolin was from a family that controlled one or two low-level empires[31]. Upon Luo Feng's warning that another team was chasing them, the group left, but were unable to escape Qiu Yu and his team, resulting in a skirmish that ended with Ao Gu killing most of the enemies[32]. Thunder God got a new Space Ring as one of the spoils of this battle. In their time in the World of Thunder, the group were attacked by multiple monsters, with the Black-Ringed Snakes they met on the 36th day causing them great anguish and the Thunder Falcon they met on the 51st day heavily damaging Thunder God[33].
Finally reaching the Canyon of Wind and Thunder, the group began to acquire the Wind Horn Stones required to pass their exam, but learned that their friend Heruo was under distress. After successfully assisting Heruo and his group, Thunder God noticed some black holes in the distance, which were revealed to be entrances to the World Within a World on Cang Lan Planet[34]. Babata shared the importance of the World Within a World with the group, prompting them to enter the world and begin searching for treasure, eventually coming across Universe Crystals, which they dug up. Thunder God was thrilled at their gains, exclaiming that in terms of value, they had already dug up 100 Earths[35]! Ming Yu reached out to the group, advising them to state that they were his subordinates, which they did[36]. Having secured their status as part of the Three Axe Mountain faction, the group made their way to the center region of the World Within a World, accumulating 180,000 cubic meters of Universe Crystals along the way, leading to Luo Feng and Thunder God teasing each other in their joy[37].
In a discussion with Heruo, the group learned that Three Axe Mountain had very few people in the World Within a World, so they mixed with his North Dragon City faction[38]. When Brolin and his team found the castle containing Lord Wu, everyone within the World Within a World became aware of the 68 distinct treasures (312 total treasures since there were multiples of some) and the need to acquire Thunder Stones to exchange for them[39]. Using Babata's Scanning Device, they acquired enough Thunder Stones to buy one Life Fruit, an Ice Soul Blade, and the Suppressing Space Cauldron[40]. Thanks to Lord Wu sharing with Brolin that someone else was exchanging for treasures when he attempted to do so, Brolin's forces learned that Luo Feng acquired treasures[40]. This lead to Brolin's forces attacking the group, with Tie Nan He dying during the escape while Ao Gu carried Thunder God and Hong[41]. After surving the ambush, Luo Feng used the Life Fruit to evolve his Cloud Vine to Universe Level 2[42] and with its strength, they acquired over 9 million more Thunder Stones, along with treasures from teams they killed. After acquiring these stones, Thunder God and Hong agreed to allow Luo Feng to choose their course of action, since his Cloud Vine had obtained the stones. Dutiful to his life-and-death brothers, Luo Feng acquired what treasures he could, one of them being five sets of technique guides from the Pinnacle World Master Kabu's Thunder Secret Method, which he gave to Thunder God[43]. While he was excited to begin studying them, he followed Hong's advice and waited until it was safe to do so.
After selling their remaining Thunder Stones, which had no use outside of the World Within a World, the group prepared to leave, but were attacked by Brolin's forces, who were attempting to acquire the final password to the Inheritance Crystal Ball[44]. Shocked by the attack, Thunder God and the others were filled with rage, but focused on making it back to Cang Lan Planet. Upon arrival, they noticed Nuolan Shan, who hoped to kill the group and thus acquire Earth and its treasures, but Luo Feng's quick thinking prompted others from Three Axe Mountain to prevent this from happening[45]. While safe for the moment, Thunder God knew that they would have to kill Nuolan Shan to be truly safe, so he asked Luo Feng to have Ming Yu kill their tormentor in exchange for the treasure they would give him.
After selling the Air Cutter Blade to Ming Yu for 20 billion Universe Coins, Luo Feng followed the distribution of spoils established by Hong on Earth and sent 4 billion Universe Coins apiece to Thunder God and Hong[46]. Luo Feng then proceeded to pass the five chips containing Kabu's techniques to Thunder God, who began studying them. While studying the manuals, Thunder God discovered that one of the chips contained the true inheritance of Kabu, including his Intelligent Life, Lord Wu[46]! With this, Thunder God became Kabu's student, with Lord Wu as his instructor, similar to Luo Feng becoming Hu Yan Bo's student, with Babata as his instructor. After exchanging the acquired Universe Crystals, Luo Feng sent 1 billion Universe Coins to the pair[47], but Thunder God refused to accept any of the spoils from the sale of the remaining 48 treasures, since he had obtained Kabu's inheritance[48].
Through his Universe Star River Bank account, Luo Feng sold the remaining 48 treasures, earning over 11 trillion Universe Coins, making him a 3-Star member of the bank and giving him the right to attend the Ganwu Auction as well as watch the battles of the Huge Axe Dojo[49]. Noticing a battle between two Universe Level 6 combatants, he contacted Thunder God and Hong to travel to the dojo to watch the battle with him (in the donghua, it was a battle between two Stellar Level combatants, Ao Gu and Genji)[50]. The three gambled 100 million Universe Coins on the battle, with Luo Feng and Thunder God gambling on Genji and Hong betting on Hanks.[47] Hanks emerged victorious after stepping through the gateway of the Law of Water and killing Genji[51].
Pinnacle Genius Battle[]
After Thunder God acquired Lord Wu as a teacher, he trained hard, nearly catching up to Hong after 2 years of training[52]. During this time, he reached Stellar Level 5[6] and had a Level 4 Domain[53]. While this brought him joy, Lord Wu was far from satisfied, noting additional flaws in his techniques.

Beyond Universe Level[]
After joining the Huge Axe Dojo at Hong's recommendation, Thunder God eventually broke through to Immortal, becoming one of the first 11 Immortals from Earth[7].
