Appearance[]
Silver-white creatures with white eyes, looking like giant ice statues. In the novel, they take on different forms, such as lizards, humanoids, birds, and bears. In the donghua, they seem to all be bears.
Description[]
Mystical Beasts are strange lifeforms naturally formed from the extremely cold conditions on Devil Mountain. They have very little intelligence, not even comparable to cats or dogs on Earth, but since they usually appear in groups, they can be extremely dangerous. If they encounter any non-Mystical Beast lifeform, they immediately attack it. Since they have no consciousness, they are unaffected by Soul Attacks[3], and even if their bodies are cut apart, they naturally reform. They can be considered unkillable.
Mystical Beasts differ in the auras they emit, with some even emitting Immortal-level auras. Those Mystical Beasts with Immortal-level auras are all extremely large, with the smallest being over 1,000 kilometers long[4]!
Etymology[]
- The character 幻 in this species' name can be translated as Illusion, Fantasy, or Mirage, but also as Mystical or Magical. Illusion/Mirage/Fantasy all imply a sense of 'unreal,' but these creatures are physical creatures, so I chose the Mystical/Magical interpretation.
