Pinnacle genius battle invite

Pinnacle Genius Battle Invitation Card

The Pinnacle Battles (巅峰决战(Diānfēng juézhàn)) among Human Race geniuses are held four times every 10,000 years to determine the absolute talents of the race. There are two Pinnacle Battles, the Pinnacle Genius Battle and the Pinnacle Warrior Battle[1]. These battles are one of the primary means for individuals to join the core of the Virtual Universe Company (VUC) and the Huge Axe Dojo (HAD)[2]. Both Pinnacle Battles are held virtually in the Virtual Universe, and are held alternately by the VUC and HAD, so while each type of battle occurs twice every 10,000 years, the VUC and HAD each hold one of each type every 10,000 years[3][4]. The VUC sends a Universe Venerable to host any Pinnacle Battle that they hold, and any participant of those battles who breaks through to Immortal will be arranged to serve under that host[5].

Pinnacle Genius Battle[]

The Pinnacle Genius Battle (巅峰天才选拔战(Diānfēng tiāncái xuǎnbá zhàn), lit. Pinnacle/Peak Genius Selection Battle, or 天才战(Tiāncái zhàn), lit. Genius Battle) is organized by either the Virtual Universe Company (VUC) or the Huge Axe Dojo (HAD) for the Human Race Stellar Level geniuses[3]. All of the 1,008 Universe Countries in human territory participate in the battles, which occur twice every 10,000 years; the VUC and HAD hold their battles separately, so every 10,000 years each organization only hosts 1 battle[3]. The Ganwu Universe Country alone had 822.5 billion participants when Luo Feng took part in the battle, which speaks to the scale of the competition[6]!

At the Stellar Level, one can begin to see a cultivator's natural talents, comprehension, and level of genius, so the VUC and HAD host this competition to give those geniuses to showcase their abilities. As long as one is a Stellar Level human, they can participate in this battle, whether they are Stellar Level 1 or Stellar Level 9[3]. The competition takes place in the Virtual Universe to ensure that it is as fair as possible. All participants will have a body that is both a Stellar Level 9 Warrior and Spirit Master, so they will have equivalent physical and spiritual strength[6]. Participants can choose their own Genetic Energy Weapons and Spirit Weapons (no more than 10 total), Genetic Armor (not exceeding Level 2), and Space Rings with food and beverages[6]. The competition tests Willpower, Consciousness, Domain, combat experience, Original Law comprehension, and other aspects.

Pinnacle Warrior Battle[]

The Pinnacle Warrior Battle (巅峰强者战(Diānfēng qiáng zhě zhàn), also referred to as 英雄战(Yīngxióng zhàn), lit. Hero Battle) is organized by the VUC and HAD for the Universe Level geniuses of the Human Race. Every Universe Country in human territory participates in the battles. The top-performing competitors in this battle are absorbed into the core of either the VUC or the HAD, depending on which entity organized the battle.

Pinnacle Genius Battle Format[]

The format for the Pinnacle Genius Battle is described in great detail since Luo Feng participated in one; the format of the Pinnacle Warrior Battle is not described, since Luo Feng is already in the VUC when he breaks through to Universe Level. The details we have are for the Ganwu Universe Country, since Luo Feng lived there, but some Universe Countries have larger or smaller territories, with more or fewer Galaxies, and thus the division of participants and the time taken to determine their representatives can differ[7].

Due to the incredible number of Humans in the Original Universe, the Pinnacle Genius Battle is broken into sections. The first main section determines the top 1,000 of each Universe Country, and the second main section determines the top 1,000 of the human race[6].

Universe Country Elimination Stage[]

The Universe Country Elimination Stage is the first part of the Universe Country section of the Pinnacle Genius Battle.

The Ganwu Universe Country had 822.5 billion participants, which they divided evenly into 100 worlds in the Virtual Universe[6], and this stage lasted for 30 days[8]. This stage was not broadcasted, so people had to purchase a Spaceship from which they could float over the worlds and observe the battles[9]. The worlds are specially constructed, simulating planets in human territory, but made of B9 Grade material to endure a month of battles between billions of Stellar Level 9 cultivators, and with gravity around 10,000 times that of Earth. Each participant starts with 0 points, and they earn points by killing other participants[8]. By killing a participant, they earn one point plus half of their victim's points, thus incentivizing them to hunt the strong. Those who die lose half of their points, but maintain their position in the rankings according to their remaining points, so one can die and still advance[8]. Participants were restricted from being able to fly away from the world by an invisible barrier (about 9,000 meters above the ground in Luo Feng's world)[9].

The top 1,001 participants of each world at the conclusion of the elimination stage pass the elimination stage[6]. The top participant of each world is allowed to skip the second part of the Universe Country section, making up 100 of the 1,000 universe country representatives. The remaining 1,000 from each world enter the Universe Country Arena stage, where the final 900 representatives will be selected.

Universe Country Arena Stage[]

The 100,000 who passed the Elimination Stage (ranks 2-1,001 from each world) enter the Arena Stage, which took place 1 month after the Elimination Stage (in the Ganwu Universe Country)[10]. The Arena Stage is separated into the Arena Battle Royale (擂台混战(Lèitái hùnzhàn)) and the Arena 1v1 Battles (擂台一对一对战(Lèitái yī duì yī duìzhàn)). This stage is broadcast and there are tickets sold for spectating, to which the participants have priority access[13].

In the Arena Battle Royale, the 100,000 participants are divided into 1,000 groups, which each fight on the same fighting ring, one group at a time. Every day, 200 groups battle, so this portion takes place over 5 days[14]. The fighting area shrinks as the battle royale continues, restricting the ability of those on flying Spirit Weapons to flee[13]. Each group's battle continues until there are only 10 participants remaining, eventually creating a group of 10,000, who, after one day of rest[15], participate in the Arena 1v1 Battles.

In the Arena 1v1 Battles, the 10,000 who survived the Arena Battle Royale are split into two groups of 5,000, who fight each other one-on-one[15]. The 5,000 winners move on to the next round, while the 5,000 losers are dropped into a losers bracket. The 5,000 winners are split into two groups of 2,500, who fight each other one-on-one. The 2,500 winners move on to the next round, while the 2,500 losers are dropped into a losers bracket. The 2,500 winners are split into two groups of 1,250, who fight each other one-on-one. The 1,250 winners move on to the next round, while the 1,250 losers are dropped into a losers bracket. Finally, the 1,250 winners are split into two groups of 625, who fight each other one-on-one. The 625 winners join the 100 who were exempted from the Arena Stage, making a group of 725 who will represent the Universe Country, while the 625 losers are dropped into a losers bracket. While the Virtual Universe Company could arrange it so that the absolute geniuses (those who have stepped through the gateway of the Original Laws) would not fight each other in this portion, they arrange it so the strongest of those geniuses (based on their performance in the Arena Battle Royale) will meet each other in the 4th battle and test each other[15]. With the existence of the losers bracket, the losers of the 4th battle still have a chance of representing their Universe Country.

After three days of rest[16], the 9,375 members of the losers bracket battle each other one-on-one, resulting in 9,374 battles for each participant. Participants earn 1 point for each battle they win, and get 0 points for a draw. The top 275 by point total fill the final 275 spots to represent their Universe Country[15]. Each participant battles 10 times a day[15]; due to the number of combatants and their personal situations, battles may be delayed. The Ganwu Universe Country losers bracket took less than 3 years, but others took longer[7].

  • Luo Feng moved on to the 1v1 battles (Group #382)[17], while Hong was eliminated in the Arena Battle Royal (Group #161)[11]
  • Luo Feng was defeated by Rong Jun his 4th of the 1v1 battles[18], so he participated in the losers bracket, where he easily made the top 275[7]

At the conclusion of this section, the top-ranked of each world in the Elimination Stage (100 total), the 625 final winners of the Arena 1v1 Battles, and the top 275 performers in the Arena 1v1 Battle losers bracket together make up the 1,000 representatives of the Universe Country for the second main section of the Pinnacle Genius Battle.

Selection of the Strongest Geniuses of the Human Race[]

After each of the 1,008 Universe Countries finish their selection battles, their collective 1,008,000 geniuses are teleported to a large, brand-new continent in the Virtual Universe[19]. The geniuses are divided into 1,008 skyscrapers, one for each universe country, where they are assigned a room[20]. The skyscrapers surround a beautiful plaza with 99 restaurants, beautiful greenery, and little animals. The geniuses could visit every restaurant except 1, which was reserved for the Immortals who accompanied each group of universe country geniuses.

Training Space Elimination and Arena Duel[]

The host of the competition (either the VUC or the HAD) seeks to choose 1,000 from the group of geniuses to absorb into the core of their organization. The first section of this process is the Training Space Elimination (试炼空间淘汰(Shì liàn kōngjiān táotài)). The entire Training Space Elimination is not broadcast publicly; the rankings were posted[21] and those in the top 1,000 had their performance broadcast[22]. Those with special privileges, like the Immortals of each Universe Country, could watch this stage.

Each genius gets their own training space, containing 7 towers, each with 7 levels[23]. Each level has its own challenge; the 1st level has 10,000 Blood Fur Mammoths, the 2nd has 10,000 Nine-Headed Pythons, the 3rd has 1,000 Tuo Luo Race warriors, the 4th has 1,000 Flying Hou beasts, the 5th has 100 Automaton Race Puppets, the 6th has 10 Cang beasts, and the 7th has 1 Zerg Race Mother Nest[24]. While each tower has the same type challenge on the equivalent level, the challenges in subsequent towers have had their strength greatly increased compared to previous towers. After completing all 7 levels in a tower a participant will be sent to the next tower.

Participants can spend a maximum of 10 days on each level, and they earn points for each enemy they defeat on each level[21]. Participants do not have to defeat all opponents on a level to pass to the next level; if they survive the full 10 days, they will be sent to the next level. If a participant dies, they kicked out of the training space and their accumulated points are preserved in a ranking. One could earn a maximum of approximately 77.7 Billion points by completing all 7 levels of all 7 towers (see Training Space Points and Training Space Strategy).

The Training Space Elimination stage ends when all participants have either died or survived the 490 total days; the 7 towers are not meant to be passed, but it is implied that someone may have done so in the past[25]. The 100 geniuses with the most points are automatically absorbed into the core of the VUC or HAD. Those ranked between 101 to 7,300 fight in 3 one-on-one battles, with the losers being eliminated and the 900 winners taking the remaining 900 spots as core members of the VUC or HAD[26]. Those below rank 7,300 are eliminated from the competition.

  • Bolan ranked 1st, Luo Feng ranked 3rd, and Rong Jun ranked 14th in the Training Space Elimination stage, so they automatically made it to the final stage

Final Stage[]

After the 1,000 core members have been determined, a final sage determines the ranking of those members. The top 100 performers in the Training Space Elimination stage make up the first 100 participants[27]. The Virtual Universe system analyzes the performance of the 900 remaining core members in their Arena Duels and determines the 100 most outstanding geniuses to make up the final 100 participants. The first 100 participants battle the final 100 participants in one-on-one battles, with the 100 winners earn the right to enter the Heaven and Earth Secret Realm (or the Huge Axe Dojo equivalent). The 100 losers and the 800 who were not selected to battle all enter the Last Phase Secret Realm (or the Huge Axe Dojo equivalent). The Virtual Universe system then analyzes the performance of the victorious 100 and chooses 20 most outstanding to fight 10 one-on-one battles. The 10 winners earn the right to enter the Absolute Beginning Secret Realm (or the Huge Axe Dojo equivalent), while the 10 losers remain Heaven and Earth Secret Realm members. The final 10 fight one-on-one, with the matchups dependent on how long each took to win their battle in the top 20. The fastest winner fights the slowest winner and so on. The final 5 winners participate in 4 battles, one with each of the others, and earn 1 point for each victory. Depending on the competition, the VUC or HAD will accept the top 1 or 2 to enter the Primal Secret Realm (or the Huge Axe Dojo equivalent).

Participants[]

Final Results[]

The final 10 geniuses were Luo Feng, Bolan, Rong Jun, Ai Chen, Wu Ka, Qian Shui, Ao Pa Te La, Jiang Mo, Lancelot, and Long Yun. Based on how quickly they won the battles in the top 20 round, the matchups were:

Bolan vs. Rong Jun (Bolan won)
Qian Shui vs. Ao Pa Te La (Qian Shui won)
Jiang Mo vs. Ai Chen (Ai Chen won)
Lancelot vs. Wu Ka (Wu Ka won)
Luo Feng vs. Long Yun (Long Yun won)

The final 5 were thus Bolan, Qian Shui, Ai Chen, Wu Ka, and Long Yun. Since only the first and second rank of these five mattered, we were only given the complete results of Bolan (who won all 4 battles and was rank 1) and Long Yun (who only lost to Bolan and was rank 2). Qian Shui won at least one battle, but we were not given her opponent. Thus, the final distribution of the top 10 was:

Bolan and Long Yun: Entered the Primal Secret Realm
Qian Shui, Ai Chen, Wu Ka, Luo Feng, Rong Jun, Ao Pa Te La, Jiang Mo, and Lancelot: Entered the Absolute Beginning Secret Realm

There was no overall ranking of everyone below Rank 2.

Rewards[]

NOTE: Normally the VUC only allows the Rank 1 genius to enter the Primal Secret Realm but during Luo Feng's Pinnacle Genius Battle the quality of geniuses was high therefore they made an exception to the rule.

Differences Between Donghua and Novel[]

Novel Donghua
Participants were not allowed to use auxiliary lifeforms Luo Feng wore the Cloud Vine as armor and used it to assist in battle
Participants did not reveal their real names to each other in the Elimination Stage, so they did not know each other's rankings. Their locations were not broadcast, but information about powerful participants spread through word of mouth Participants used their real names and could search each other's rankings in the Elimination Stage. The names and locations of the top 1,001 were shared with other participants
While some participants from the Ganwu Universe Country Imperial Family mentioned that Devil Hammer would kill Luo Feng, no connection was explicitly stated Devil Hammer is a member of the Ganwu Universe Country Imperial Family faction
Thunder God was killed by Rong Jun on the 27th day of the Elimination Stage Thunder God was killed by Rong Jun on the final day of the Elimination Stage, with about an hour left
While Nabini was the most exceptional genius of the Black Dragon Mountain Holy Land, he was not connected to Brolin's conflict with Luo Feng. He fought in a different world in the Universe Country Elimination Stage than Hong, and he never fought Luo Feng Nabini, as Hargrave's disciple, was tasked with defeating Luo Feng and Hong so that Brolin could get the rights to the Milky Way, and thus Earth. Nabini fought Hong in the Elimination Stage and the Arena Battle Royale, and lost to Luo Feng in the initial Arena 1v1 Battles and in the loser's bracket
The 7 towers in the Training Space Elimination stage each had the same 7 types of enemies, one on each level, but each successive tower was more difficult than its predecessor The 7 towers in the Training Space Elimination stage each had different enemies, and the enemies increased in strength as the participants moved to higher levels within the tower
Luo Feng did not fight Ai Chen, Wu Ka, or Bolan Luo Feng fought Ai Chen, Wu Ka, and Bolan
The elimination of the geniuses in the final stage resulted in a round of 20, a round of 10, and a round of 5, with 1v1 battles in the round of 5 determining the recipients of the 2 Primal Secret Realm spots The elimination of the geniuses was a more traditional tournament bracket, with a round of 32, a round of 16, a round of 8, and a round of 4.
In the 1v1 battles of the final 5, Long Yun defeated Wu Ka, Qian Shui, and Ai Chen. Since he only lost to Bolan, he earned the 2nd Primal Secret Realm spot Long Yun and Wu Ka fought to a draw in the final 4, while Luo Feng lost to Bolan. As a result, Long Yun and Wu Ka each fought Luo Feng. Since Long Yun defeated Luo Feng and Wu Ka lost to Luo Feng, Long Yun earned the 2nd Primal Secret Realm spot.
Due to the format of the round of 5 and the round of 10, we only learned who was Rank 1 (Bolan) and Rank 2 (Long Yun); Ranks 3-10 were not specified Due to the format of the round of 4, Bolan is Rank 1, Long Yun is Rank 2, Luo Feng is Rank 3, and Wu Ka is Rank 4
