Description[]

Swallowed Star The Movie: Blood Luo Continent (吞噬星空劇場版血洛大陸(Tūnshì xīngkōng jùchǎng bǎn xuè luò dàlù), lit. Swallowed Star Theatrical Version Blood River Continent) is a 2024 film adapting the Blood River World Mission arc from the novel. The movie was officially released on Tencent on December 7, 2024. Chronologically, the movie takes place between episodes 148 and 149 of the donghua. This part of the novel is between Volume 9, Chapter 11 - Chapter 489: Cultivation World and Volume 9, Chapter 63 - Chapter 541: Tian Shi Palace Master.

Plot[]

Luo Feng, seeking to undertake one of the Virtual Universe Company's (VUC) cultivation world missions, selects the Impossible-level Mission Blood River World Mission[3]. In this mission, the VUC commissions him to investigate the secret of the Blood River Crystal, an item on the Blood River World that is said to have plunged the world into a whirlpool of bloody killings.

Changes from Novel[]

  • In the donghua, the Blood River World Mission is an Impossible-level Mission[3], while in the novel it is a Dangerous-level Mission[4].
  • In the movie, Blood River World is located in the NGC9760 Galaxy[5], while in the novel, its galaxy isn't specified, but it is in the Absolute Beginning Secret Realm.
  • Babata is much more active in the movie than in the novel, where he does not actively monitor Luo Feng's actions. The first mention of Babata during Luo Feng's time on the world is when Luo Feng called him to study Special Envoy Mo's Spaceship and keep it in his spatial storage[6].
  • Probably due to the movie taking place over 90min rather than an entire arc, Luo Feng doesn't seem to spend as much time with Na Ke and Na Bu. There is no mention in the movie of the girl Na Ke liked and attempted to court[7].
  • In the novel, Luo Feng obtains two Blood River Crystals from Qi Niu when he joins the Blood God Guards. It is through conversations with fellow guards that he realizes that he could have his Golden Horned Beast Body (GHB body) absorb the crystals[8]. In the movie, he finds that his GHB body can easily adapt to the fog within the Ancient God Ruins, so he thinks it should be able to absorb the crystals.
  • In the novel, while Ba Qi is a member of the Immortal Temple, he has no knowledge of the deaths of Si Yong's disciples, while in the movie he is actively investigating their deaths. It is implied in the novel that even if Ba Qi knew, he wouldn't care, since he was focused on becoming a Black Warrior, an invincible existence on the Blood River World. Other World Masters were simply competition.
  • In the novel, Ku Yan finds the Beast God Statue[9] and brings it with him when visiting Ba Qi with Yu Ke[10] (who was traveling there to bring Ba Qi more Blood River Medals). In the movie, Ba Qi already has a Beast God Statue there, since he and his guards worship the Beast God.
  • In the novel, Ba Qi has respect for the value of the Jade Gold used for the Beast God Statue, but otherwise has no interest[10]
  • In the novel, Luo Feng acquires the Beast God Statue by using the Earth Automaton Ship to attack Yu Ke's ship, killing all onboard[11]. This attack attracts Ba Qi and Qi Niu, but the ship had already escaped by the time they arrived. In the movie, Luo Feng steals the statue from Ba Qi's palace, killing multiple Blood God Guards to escape with it. This draws Ba Qi and the rest of his guards, and Luo Feng attacks the group with the Earth Automaton Ship.
  • In the novel, Luo Feng does not bring the Cloud Vine due to that lifeform not existing on Blood River World, but in the movie he uses it in the battle with the Blood God Guards.
  • In the novel, it's explicitly stated that Ba Qi had less than a 10% chance of surviving the Star Annihilator Cannon attack[12], while in the movie, he tanks the attack, only losing his headgear.
  • In the novel, there is no mention of the Zerg Race on Blood River World, while in the movie, there is an item engraved with a Zerg Race symbol, which Luo Feng brings to Tian Shi Palace Master.
