Etymology[]
This is a section added primarily due to the difference between the English-fan translation of the Novel and the true Chinese meaning.
Original Chinese characters: 宇宙之主 (yǔzhòu zhī zhǔ)
- The first two Characters 宇宙 (yǔzhòu) just refer to the Universe or Cosmos. In fact they can be found quite commonly in this novel. The English Novel also translated them as Universe, so here no issue can be found.
- The last two Characters 之主 (zhī zhǔ) could be translated as Master of ... or Lord of ....
Looking at the work Swallowed Star, Characters of this Cultivation Rank will get an honorific title such as "Void Gold Master" or "Star River Master". The novel and the wiki have chosen to use "Master" however Lord would not be wrong either. Furthermore when reaching this rank the cultivator will have mastered a portion of Time & Space and even the Original Universe will retreat when they are using their abilities. As such they have mastered a small portion of the Universe. This makes the title Universe Master even more fitting.
- In the World of Jin 法则之主 (fǎzé zhī zhǔ) is used to refer to Universe Masters. It essentially means Law Master but refers to the same cultivation rank.
Description[]
Universe Master is the next tier of cultivation beyond Universe Venerable. While Universe Venerables can be sorted into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Venerables, as well as Universe Overlord and Top Universe Overlord, these are differences in power rather than tier. As a result, while an Immortal who breaks through to Universe Venerable can immediately become a Universe Overlord or Top Universe Overlord, they CANNOT become a Universe Master, even if they have reached the Perfect Life Gene Level. The strongest Top Universe Overlords can survive a fight with a Universe Master if they have adequate Arcana, but defeating a Universe Master is likely impossible.
A Universe Master can alone make a race a Powerful Race, while the Pinnacle Races have multiple Universe Masters. Their Divine Body fundamentally changes, able to condense 100 times the Divine Power of a Universe Venerable with a Life Gene Level of 100, and having 100 times the quality of Divine Power. As such, the quantity of a Level 1 Universe Master's Divine Power is equivalent to that of a Universe Venerable with a Life Gene Level of 10,000. With the additional increases in law comprehension and Consciousness, they are on a completely different level than Universe Venerables under Universe Overlord, and are generally able to easily defeat even Universe Overlords and Top Universe Overlords. Their law comprehension allows them to create incredible techniques; even ordinary Universe Masters have at least created a Universe Master Ultimate Technique. With their incredible Divine Bodies and Divine Power, their Willpower is also extraordinary; it is impossible for an ordinary being to have Willpower that could rival a Universe Master[1].
As Universe Masters have mastered Law of Time and Law of Space , they exist outside of time and space, granting them several benefits. They can exceed the Life Gene limits placed on ordinary lifeforms, allowing even non-Special Lifeform Universe Masters to exceed the Life Gene Level of 100. After surpassing this limit, they gradually increase in size as their Life Gene Level increases[2]. They are able to perform Time and Space Reversal to resurrect the dead, and can even see possible futures. If they wish it, they can make themselves undetectable by those below Universe Master, and they can seize control of the time and space of an area.
With their power and importance to their race, their weakest equipment is generally at least High Arcana. Their disciples are typically Universe Venerables and they traverse Universe Ocean for valuables and to increase their combat experience. They are pillars to powerful organizations in the Original Universe and can even garner some fame in Universe Ocean.
Breakthrough[]
There are two ways of becoming a Universe Master.
- Comprehending both the Law of Space and Law of Time and any Lower Law.
- Perfectly fusing any Lower and Upper Law. For example the Beast Gods follow this path.
When a Universe Venerable breaks through to become a Universe Master then the Original Ocean with a diameter of tens of billions of kilometers descends, transforming their God Country and increasing their Divine Power a hundredfold. As such they have transcended Space & Time and became a Universe Master. Within a certain space around them, they can stop the Original Laws Operation, however as powerful as they are, they still cannot detect their Operation. A singular blow from a Universe Master can make a Top Universe Overlord lose 10% of their Divine Body.[3]
Tiers[]
Universe Masters are divided into 6 Tiers:

These Universe Masters have generally reached a temporary bottleneck in Life Gene Level, about 1000. They have created the ultimate secret method and their Arcana are considered decent.[5] |

They have satisfied one of three conditions, and satisfying the others is generally a matter of time. Has either obtained an incredible Arcana (a domain, soul, or palace Top Arcana, otherwise a Pinnacle Arcana), created a Universe Master Strongest Technique, or reached a Life Gene Level of around 10,000.[5] |

Generally a Tier 5 Top Universe Master alongside a Xeon Arcana is the Tier 6 Top. Generally by relying on the Divine Power provided by a Life Gene Level of 10,000, they are capable of using the secret engravings on Xeon Arcana to display a True God-Level secret method.[15] If a cultivator can create a True God-level secret method, they can also reach this level without Xeon Arcana.[11] The three Ancestral Gods can exhibit power of this level while using Pinnacle Arcana due to being blessed by the Original Universe with techniques and privileges.[16] |

Abilities[]
- Interact with Space and Time
- Can see some past and future possibilities
- Easily obtain messages from hundreds of millions of light-years away
- Teleport up to 1 million light-years away[17]
- Sense all Space Fluctuations within a 10 Million Light-Year Area.
- Easily expand and shrink their divine body
- Increase their gene level past the normal limit of 100x. Can be raised all the way up to 10081x. 10081x represents the limit within the Original Universe yet can be broken. Should the limit be broken an alternate way to become a True God opens up.
Reversal of Space and Time / Revival[]
Universe Masters are capable of reversing Space and Time in order to for example resurrect a deceased person. Importantly, even Beast Gods, who use fusion laws to break through to Universe Master, are capable of performing this technique, despite not necessarily fully comprehending either Law of Time or Law of Space (depending on their fusion law).[18]
However as this interferes with Causality there are two types of punishment that need to be born for this.
Punishments[]
Punishment for altering Causality. This would normally affect whatever actually alters the Causality. For example if a person is resurrected by a Universe Master, then that person itself is the cause for the change in Causality and will bear that punishment. As the punishment is proportional to the thing altered, this would kill the person again. The Punishment for altering Causality can however also be born by the Universe Master. Resurrecting an Immortal Army Lord often times is just a drop in the bucket for them.
Treasures could theoretically also be "revived", however as Treasures themselves require an astronomical amount of Energy to be destroyed, the punishment received for bringing back a Treasures is ginormous. As such typically no one will bring back a Treasure, as it's easier to obtain one than bear the punishment.
The second punishment is the Punishment of Passage. As time has passed between the person dying and the day where they are revived, that time passage will need to be born by the body resurrected. This punishment can not be born by the Universe Master. This could mean that a Planetary Level resurrected after 1 Million Years will experience those 1 Million Years immediately, thus have exhausted his Lifespan and die. The body will then rot and their soul will be dispersed. As Immortals and above no longer have a Lifespan means only the lower Ranks are affected by this punishment.
Further Limitations[]
As the number of resurrections increases, the punishment of the universe will become heavier and heavier. As such Universe Masters try to limit who they resurrect.
Universe Masters themselves can no longer be resurrected. Only Realms below the Universe Master can ever be resurrected.
This is most likely a Supreme Rule in the Universe as otherwise a Universe Master could resurrect another Universe Master who could then resurrect someone else. This could cause a loop.
Examples[]
Examples of Punishments based on a typical Universe Master:
- Resurrecting an Immortal King can easily be withstood by the Universe Master
- Resurrecting a Universe Venerable will seriously injure the Universe Master
- Resurrecting a Universe Overlord will cause a normal Universe Master to die.
- Resurrecting a Top Universe Overlord may only be possible at the hands of a True God.
Divine Body[]
Their body can expand and shrink at a pace faster than the speed of light.
Their Life Gene Level can surpass the ordinary lifeform limit of 100 and theoretically reach the Perfect Life Gene Level of 10,081. Normally, they can reach a Life Gene Level of about 1,000. It is very difficult for them to reach 2,000 to 3,000, and it is extremely difficult to reach 5000[2].
As they improve their Life Gene Level, their Divine Bodies can also increase in size[2].
